- Core waste (excluding ash) increased to 65.4 million tonnes, up from 57.8 million tonnes in 2016–17
- Municipal waste rose by 0.6 million tonnes, commercial waste fell by 0.7 million tonnes, and construction waste grew by 5.7 million tonnes
- Per capita headline waste remained stable, while core waste per capita increased by 4.8%
- The Waste Hierarchy Framework now prioritises prevention and circular economy approaches
- Prevention initiatives, such as reuse and repair, diverted approximately 3.18 million tonnes of waste
