The project has a community fund. Can we ask for a health clinic?

Disclaimer: This post is a demonstration of our ‘Collaborative Conversations’ Forum. The information provided is based on examples of conversations our experts have had.

Our town has a Community Development Fund linked to a nearby mine. Can we use that to fund a mobile health clinic?

Absolutely, and you’re thinking strategically. Here’s what strengthens your case:

  • Show how the project’s workforce growth or fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) arrangements affect local health access
  • Use social impact assessment data (which may already identify healthcare strain as an impact)
  • Propose co-investment with local health services or NGOs

In Queensland, Community Development Funds (CDFs) linked to large resource projects are increasingly expected to deliver measurable outcomes, not just one-off sponsorships.

If you want a more strategic approach, you can ask the company to shift toward a Community Investment Fund model with outcome reporting.

Would you like support building that proposal?

Yes, especially the part about making it more than a “grant round.”

I have attached a proposal builder template you can use to map impact, partners, and return investment.
